I have asked my bosses for a raise because I make 14.50 an hour have been with the company for three years and was recently promoted to Office Manager.
Here is what I do. I keep track of three bosses, I am the only full time office employee with the best days-on record, I know every job, every invoice, do all of the bookkeeping, clean, run errands, organize...blah blah blah. We are a fairly small town and the only engineering company in the region. I feel undercompensated.

It's difficult to say what a fair wage is without knowing the situation. Here are some factors to consider: What part of the country do you live in? What is the cost of living there? Are there other jobs readily available to you in the area where you live? What benefits (medical, dental, paid vacation, overtime pay) do you receive? 30K annually (your hourly rate X 40 X 52 is close to this amount) isn't a lot for an office manager in the North East or in California or in a large urban location. If you live in a small town in the South or Midwest, that salary may purchase a lot more.

Once you are working for a company, it's harder to negotiate pay raises. (It's easiest to get a higher salary by switching to a new job.) If you're determined to get a higher salary and your bosses don't grant your request, consider looking for a new job. Once you have a higher paying offer, let your current employers know if you want to give them the option of matching the offer. Don't pretend to have another offer, though--that's playing with fire!

Another option is to ask for benefits that would be meaningful to you, like an extra week of paid vacation. Good luck!

Yogini is right. If you are working for a small company in a small area you are being pretty well compensated. If you are in NYC or LA you are not.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I have never known an office manager who cleans or runs errands. The title may just be for show.

Be wary of info that you get from websites like salary.com They tend to base their info on large companies.

i feel you i am a safety manager with a degree and make less than that, however where i live it is very cheap to live. if you just got promoted you should have got a raise along with the promotion, right? Tell them that you want a dollar an hour raise and they shouldnt find that too outrageous (7 %).

Try the link below to get an idea of what the range of pay is for you location. If you are on the low end or below, you can always try to use it as justification to your bosses.

One thing to consider is what are the other opportunities you could get? If there are few options they may have the leverage to keep your pay down, if there are many options you have the leverage.

You should make around $37k to $42k, just for your knowledge, background, history, and commitment! You a valuable assest to that company and they need to realize it! Keep up the good work and don't give in to your abilities.

You are undercompensated.

A retial store manager (at a drug store) makes almost $70,000 a year, probably works half as much.

At my employer, our office managers make about the same amount as the retial managers.

You should be making around $20 or more an hour. Or 41 to 57K a year (in oklahoma), but it depends on your area: http://hotjobs.salary.com/salarywizard/layoutscripts/swzl_compresult.asp?zipcode=&metrocode=124&statecode=OK&state=Oklahoma&metro=Oklahoma+City&city=&geo=Oklahoma+City%2C+OK&jobtitle=Office+Manager&search=&narrowdesc=Administrative%2C+Support%2C+and+Clerical&narrowcode=OF01&titleSelect=yes&r=hotjbs_swzttsbtn_psr&p=Htjbs95&geocode=&jobcode=OF13000019&altername=Enter+search+term

They are robbing you blind. Well I live in Ca. I would not be able to live on anything under 27hr. You have to know what you are worth.
