If you are serious that your other academics are all A's you may be someone that would benefit from a closer examination of the the "success factors" that are studied at the better colleges & universities that prepare teachers for Mathematics Instruction.

I would suggest that you and your parents seek out the head of the Math Department at your school and try to discuss this as soon as possible. It may be that there are factors at work that are unique. You will likely need to do not just "more homework" but different kinds of homework and/or get special help that a peer tutor is unlikely to be capable of.

Of course such intervention will not instantly turn around your grades. You will need to work with the teacher to overcome the deficiet that you have. You're about a month into school, so hopefully you can recover...

BTW If you have NOT been doing homework, have NOT been an active, well behaved participant in class, and do NOT have a strong background in pre-Algebra mathematics classes I would recommend against this approach...

My answer is scary unless it suits you. This is what worked for me.
I found that the lessons were moving too quick too much memory work etc. i am the type that wants to understand first principles.
I stopped attending lectures and did my own reading in peace.
I was very driven and soon caught up. Went from just on a fail to a credit for that subject.
If you are like me perhaps you even have a learning disabillity (so called by the system) this may be the way. It is nto that i had confidence or belief in my self it is more that I was desperate. But once I saw it working it became a strategy.

If I had woken up to this when I was struggling with algebra!

At school they had me in a remedial class. I had no confidence etc.
I spent 20 years in a trade (I dont regret this but was not at my potential) Then I got cheeky and did applied Physics. I started to have the same old issues but with Quantum Physics. By teaching myself the mark for this came in so high it turned my average for a year from just failing to credit (60%+)! I wish I had fully adopted this strategy earlier. When i look back I can see that I have done this for earlier hurdles but always felt guilty about not ''doing '' what was expected. They have to teach groups this means compomise on their part; it doesn't mean we have to compromise. Teach yourself! If you can catch a ball you have a super computer in your head; we just need to teach it the grammer of maths.

The school will give you a tutor. It may be after school or during study hall. Talk to your teacher. Ask questions in class. I was afraid to ask questions and struggeld. When I got in college I said screw it, I'm asking if I don't know and I did. Alot of other students would thank me for asking because they were afraid to ask as well. After that everyone did better because they realized others didn't get it either.

I believe there's now an "Algebra for Dummies" book, or some such. It might help explain in simpler terms than whatever you're "not getting."

pay attention in class, take good notes. ask the teacher after class to clarify what you don't understand. do practice problems, ask friends for help. plenty of things you can do if you are willing.

Usually schools have peer tutors. You should ask your teacher or principal.

Ask a teacher for help or ask another student to help you. Or let your parents/ guardians help you.

first, get rid of the fear of algebra.... think you can do it....right away! and get back to your textbook and start reading it closely, patiently.... keep papers and a pen...work out...work out...work out....good luck...

(that is how i learnt algebra... now i am pretty good in advanced maths...!)
