Yes, but it depends on the surface. If its coated, you might have to sand it off to get paint to stick. If its uncoated, try putting a primer on it first.

If the particle board has a laminite coat or gloss finish, you will want to sand it lightly first so that the paint will adhere. A good primer wouldn't hurt either.
