Yes you can have your cold drinks with ice while you are pregnant. You can eat just (and drink) as you did prior to becoming pregnant. Unless you start to have water retention then you will have to lay off the salt ,or if you have some other complication your doctor may restrict your diet. I do not know where your husband got such a notion but I,ve never heard of it and I,ve never known anyone to give up cold beverages because they were pregnant.

That is completely silly and ridiculous....of course you can still have ice in your drink.......where in the world did he come up with that one? Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

Silly man! Of course you can have cold drinks. Doesn't he know they give you ice chips when you're in the hospital?!?! Besides, the baby isn't actually in your stomach!! What a nerd!! :) Never mess with a pregnant woman and her cold drinks!!

good for you for doing your research! I especially recommend the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting".

of course cold drinks are fine, unless they have alcohol or caffeine in them ;) where does your husband come up with these restrictions?

Your husband must be listening to those "Ol Wives Tales". NO, drinking cold or hot liquids does nothing to the baby! Tell him the baby is safe in your uterus, the liquids are heading for the stomach. LOL You may need to take him with you to a few OB/GYN visits. Also, just in case he comes up with this one, NO, his penis will not hit the baby in the head when you have sex :)

Its fine...you are not going to hurt the baby in any way...you will find that once you start feeling the baby...drinking a glass of cold water makes the baby move more...Tell hubby to relax...he's a little out of control

um, yes. Your husband is a nut case... lol. Pregnant woman live for cold things, its the only way to survive the heat of pregnancy.

Take him to your doctors appointment and ask your doctor with him there. Theres nothing wrong with cold drinks.

Are you serious??? I have to have some sort of ice cream everyday, or I'll dye. That is the dumbest thing I ever heard of. Husbands know nothing.

Your husband is crazy, he sounds like my in-laws. They wouldn't let me go around a woman on her period when I was pregnant because it would make my baby cranky? Crazy! Cold drinks are fine!!
