like, is evryone at a club or do you just hang out on the strip?

It really depends how much money you are willing to spend... obviously the best things are also the most expensive.

If money is no object, get yourself and your friends into a 'top-floor' nightclub... Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay is my favorite, but Ghost Bar at the Palms and VooDoo Lounge at the Rio also have spectacular top-floor decks which give you a panoramic view of the fireworks show on the strip. (The casinos work together to coordinate the fireworks, so it is quite something to have that 'wide' view.)

If money is tight, you can hang out with our mayor downtown on Fremont Street.. I've heard that's a lot of fun.

EDIT:
Everyone is NOT in a club... there are usually upwards of a million people wandering up and down the Strip... they close it off to automobiles... pedestrian traffic only. If you intend to just 'hang out on the strip' I have a few words of advice.....

First order of priority: wear comfortable shoes!
Second: if you are wandering in and out of casinos, make sure you start heading for the exit no later than 11:30 if you want to be able to see the fireworks.... round about quarter to midnight EVERYbody is trying to get out the doors and pushing through the crowd to get a decent vantage point is impossible. (You need to be able to get far enough away from the building you just exited in order to have a view of the fireworks.)
Third: wear comfortable shoes... that one's so important it's worth repeating.
