They used to do this a long time ago (I had mine done that way about 30 years ago), but not sure if they do it anymore now that they do it at the mall. I am not too sure why people are telling you to wait and let it be her decision? Everyone has their ears pierced, It is not like you want your daughter to get a tatoo that will last forever. If she does not like to wear earings she can take them out and the holes will close.

Hello! Believe it or not the best place is at the mall. I took my daughter to the doctor's office thinking it was the best, & it turned out to be a diaster. The doctor even had my daughter's ears noticeably uneven. I took her to Piercing Pagado at the mall & they fixed the problem & my daughter who was 6 months didn't even blink an eye whereas at the doctor's office she was crying bloody murder. skasha
this isnt mine but it might help

Our doctor pierced my daughter's ears when she was 3 months old. Never had a problem. All they have to do is deaden the area and poke a hole in it. Simple.

The best place to go would be a tatoo and piercing shop, the rooms are cleaned in between clients instead of just pulling out more paper on a table.

well, assuming she was talking about when your sister in law was a baby and she is now probably in her 20s or older. Yes. When I was a baby it was safer (more hygenic) to have it done in the doc's office. I don't think they are allowed to do that anymore. Go to a place that is licensed and piercers are also licensed.

If my children's pediatrician offered this - I would seriously seriously think about finding a new one. Not for the fact that I disagree with a baby having her ears pierced - but that a good pediatrician takes care of children. Children's wellness. Takes care of them when they're sick. Gives them physicals & checkups to ensure health. Any other ped...sounds like someone who needs more time on their hands. And a pediatrician that has that much time on their hands...don't have the trust of that many parents to gain patients.

I had my dermatologist do my daughter's ears at 14 years. I wouldn't do that to a child; it should be their decision in my opinion. Be prepared to pay a lot, if you go that route.

doctors are not licensed to pierce ears. just because they are a doctor it doesn't mean that they know how to pierce ears.
