My son is now 5 1/2 months. At 4 1/2 mths he was having a 7oz. bottle about every 4 hrs. and I was giving him cereal once a day... 1-2 tbsp mixed with formula to a thin consistency. I introduced each cereal (rice, oatmeal, and barley) for a week. I started him on cereal at 4 months. He now eats cereal twice a day, veggies 1x a day and fruit 1x a day ... plus bottles !

i personally joined both what the doctor said and what i felt together when i had my son, i feed him every 2-3hrs, but if an hour after feeding he looked hungry and cried i would feed him again, and i did that for two years straight, breastfeeding i'm talking about here, and at 4 1/2 months i remember i did start introducing a little food so i would give him a little bit of both....i don't know if everyone would agree with me or not, but i don't agree with feeding times...unless you're formula fed...because i don't believe that you can overfeed a babybreastmilk...

My son is 4 months old and I usually feed him anywhere from 3 to 4 ounces about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Sometimes he only wants 2 ounces, sometimes 4 ounces. I let him eat until he's satisfied. Usually he'll let me know when he's hungry...starts getting fussy.

It really does depend on if you are breast or bottle-feeding. I fed all four of my children on demand for as long as they wanted(breast feeding) and they are all wonderfully healthy great eaters and of average weight. I would have to say if you are bttle feeding to consult your doctor as weight plays into determining how much formula. Just remember there is no magic answer. We dont eat the same amount each day or at the same times so as nice as a schedule may be, it may not be practical for your baby.

I think you should ask his doctor and possibly some parenting classes for yourself.
