I go to a community college. Typically in a community college, there is not a whole lot of students in a classroom. However, in my Alegbra class in my college, there is about 60 students in this class. This class meets four times a week for only 50 mintues. The problem is that the students in the back of the room are very loud .The majority of the class sits in the back. In the back of the room, thestudents talk to their neighbors and sometimes their cell phones go off during class.I sit in the front of the room which is more quiet and the students seldom talk in the front. The professor told the students several times to be quiet. She told them to be quiet or leave the classroom. The students do not listen and they still are noisy. The professor is good in her field. This effects me because I have a learning disablity in math and math comes very hard to me. I can tolerate nosies in other classes. However, not in this one. Should I report the professor even though she is good at math?

Or, should I talk to the professor about how I'm feeling? What should I do in this situation?

You should talk to your professor and tell her how you are feelling, and that those kids are disrupting you while you are trying to learn. If she doesn't do anything about those kids then I would report her.

Your education shouldn't have to suffer.

Reporting your professor is a bad idea as it will serve no purpose. If you have trouble in your math class ask for tutoring from the teacher or other tutoring service. Move to the front of the room and just sort of deal with it. I know that sounds really calloused but that's the way the cookie crumbles out in the real world. As my mother told me when I had a similar issue in my Physics class, "This is collge. Put on your big girl panties and get over it."

Sometimes the teacher can do more with complaints from students. You may help the teacher as well as yourself. Also, there maybe learning disability help on campus. Once qualified, you can have a quiet place and more time for tests, special classes, tutors, other things. Go to the counselor, student resources, Student Success Programs, etc.
Know sometimes the "Disabled" students are gifted and the regular students only bother you because of your qualities.

When I was at college albeit much smaller classes, the disruptive students were made to leave the room. The same if they turned up late, they were not allowed to enter the room until we had a break.

As far as phones going off, they were confiscated even if someone was texting.

I would report the teacher because she's not doing her job by quieting down the students, her fault not yours.

I don't think you have a learning disability in math. Learning disabilities don't come in a single subject. It sounds like you're afraid at math or something.

Talk to your professor. In college/univeristy...your action as a student is your own responsibility. I slept in the back...but I went to a univeristy where classes are roughly 200 people and held in auditoriums. Don't go to the Dean yet and undermine your professor, speak to her first and let her know of your concerns. Remember, she is not there to babysit. Its not highschool.
