Its impossible to generalise in a few sentences. Best I can recommend is a book by Kate Fox : Watching the English. The introduction is a bit annoying insofar she talks more about herself, but the rest of it is pretty good for understanding the English.

My own gross generalisations are as follows:
Polite to strangers (unless drunk), but this is a feature of English reserve.
Humourous (the worst insult for any Englishman is to tell him he has no sense of humour)
Not very intellectual (especially compared to, say, the French or Russians).
Does not go in for machismo behaviour, therefore do not see housework or cooking as humiliating "women's work".
Conservative, both socially and politically.

English men... under British Law, they have to pretend to be women, and not do masculine things like:

Be friendly to a girl at work (sexual harrassment)

Get attached to their children (when the wife kicks them out after SHE's had an affair, men aren't ever given custody)

Play football well, or watch it on tv if a woman is around. This does not apply to Eastenders, Neighbours, Home & Away, Coronation Street, Emmerdale etc.

Keep their hard earned money because they have to give it to the cheating wife to smoke and drink away under the title of "child maintenance"

Own a house once married... its given to the same ex wife.

Women in general find English man with broad English accent (without some strong regional accent, as it'd be a real turn-off at times), a real turn-on especially if they can COOK food & a REAL gentleman (i.e. taking their hats off before hitting a woman, if it comes to that ;)
