Definitely "b." The nature of Jesus, i.e., whether human or divine, was one of the big points of contention even as late as the Council of Nicea in the Fourth Century AD. They also argued over the extent of God's intervention in human affairs -- not really whether he intervened, but how much. And there were definitely arguments over whether non-Jews could be Christians, an argument that was "officially" settled at a council of church leaders in Jerusalem in about 50 AD, an event mentioned in the book of Acts and which has come to be called the Council of Jerusalem. But basically everybody believed in Heaven.
