there have been several harvest moon games. super nintendo introduced the series back in the early 90s. -it's tough to find, but not really recommended for a beginner - you are most likely to find this game online, such as on ebay

gameboy then carried two titles of the game. - again, not recommended for beginners - you are most likely to find this game online, such as on ebay

then, N64 took the game, and screwed it up. they couldn't decide on the names, and religion was mandated. movement was difficult - recommended only for people that are currently comatose. they get farther than normal people can. - the best place to look for this title is in the trash

the title was then saved by playstations copy, called "back to nature" the names were correct, the festivals were not mandated, and gameplay could be quite lengthy. although movement was diagonal, everything was set up as such, and movement was easy. - you can still find this game in gamestores that still carry playstation games, but those might be hard to find. look in second hand shops, and local run stores

playstation 2 then messed the game up with 'save the homeland' although the game looked good... it didn't play nearly so well as the rest, and the fun factor was cut dramatically. they paid too much attention to graphics, and not enough to game-mechanics. you can find this in some gamestores, but you seem to already have played it.

gamecube changed the cast around in 'a wonderful life' and gameplay changed somewhat, focusing less on small crop growth and more on relationships with townfolk and your family. you can find this game in gamestores

around the same time as 'a wonderful life' came 'friends of mineral town' for gameboy advance. this took the already wonderful 'back to nature' and updated it, and allowed communication with 'AWL (a wonderful life)' FoMT (friends of mineral town)' is the game i recommend for people new to the series, even if it isn't the best of the series - you can find this in video game stores

both 'AWL' and 'FoMT' are also available in girl versions. 'more friends of mineral town' for GBA and 'another wonderful life' for gamecube - both can currently be found in game stores.

magical melody is also for the gamecube, but i know nothing about this game, and haven't heard anything good about it either. you can find it in gamestores.

the DS also has a version, that came out about 2 weeks ago. it is the best in the series, IMO, because it's the one i find the most fun. the touch screen is used excellently, as opposed to several other DS games that seem to throw stuff in there just cause they can. - can be found in gamestores

There are different versions of the game. There is Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life and Harvest Moon: Magic Melody for the Nintendo Game Cube, and then there is Harvest Moon: DS for the Nintendo DS. You can easily pick them up at places like gamestop or gamecrazy, you might even find pre-played copies for cheaper.

It's a good (though kinda time consuming) game. I loved the gameboy version.

It's easy to buy online:
