This is not own personal view, but I think this is how most North American and European governments view:

Opposing sides of dark skinned savages are killing each other. They have no natural resources that anyone really needs, so let them have at it. As long as the violence doesn't reach our shores, we don't care.

If we ever get to a point where we need what they have, then we'll intervene under the pretext of a humanitarian mission.

This behaviour on the part of the "civilized" world truly sickens me.

I don't know a great deal but there is still slavery there, so not such a nice place!

ok.. in 1989 there was a Coup d'etat. by the Islamics. I guess that's explain.
