Kinky Friedman- Texas Gubernatorial candidate. Many of us from around the country are watching this race VERY CLOSELY.

Kinky AN INDEPENDENT would increase National Guard troops on the border from 1,500 to 10,000 and impose 25,000 to $50,000 fines on companies that hire illegal immigrants.

Foreign nationals seeking employment would purchase a foreign taxpayer ID card once they have passed a criminal background check.

Friedman is calling for $100 million to be allocated immediately in Houston to fight crime and increase the number of police officers on the streets.

Kinky would de-criminalize Marijuana.

Feelings on gun control: "The second amendment is every bit as important as the others."

He would close corporate loopholes so that the 10,000 Texas businesses that are not currently paying taxes, will.

Go to his website. I don't agree with him on everything but he has some great ideas.

What do you think?

He is highly entertaining. That's all the opinion I have right now, but I like a lot of what he has to say.

I like most but the pot issue, still needs to be illegal. He definitely has some good ideas about cracking down on illegal immigrants and crime. I think it would be cool to shake it up a little, but so did Minnesota when they elected Jesse Ventura.

Is this the Kinky Friedman who made a few albums with the Texas Jewboys? Mad as a hatter, he should do well.

If I lived in Texas I'd vote for him!
I agree with him generally. He's been around here forever, you know? Been an activist all over the place.
Plus, it would be such a slap in the face to Texas' darling W.
Sadly, he'll lose.

Kinky is a good Jewish lad,he has aways been good to his mother,it's about time Texas takes a big leap away from big business, but they are pumping money in to stop him, before they assume it was a joke they are not laughing now

I think you're electioneering and your question won't remain up much longer. That said, I won't be voting for him because he doesn't stand a chance against Perry, Bell, or Strayhorn. Although, I must say, his passion and direct approach are refreshing.

UPDATE: Oh, and Garfield, if you stay on your side of the IHOP-Waffle House line, nobody will get hurt. At least we get to have guns.
