I am on my period, but my boyfriend for 3 years is coming to see me so we can go out. I don't get to see him often because of the distance so I want us to be "intimate". He has no problem doing it while I'm "on", but I would like to lessen the blood flow. Help!

Make sure you do not take any kind of pain reliever, that can thin your blood and cause it to be flow heavier. Not eating greasy foods and bulking up on fiber might help some. I agree with the other girls that mother nature has to take its toll but as long as you and your boyfriend don't mind engaging in sexual encounters while on your period--go ahead and enjoy! Using a tampon might help lessen the flow just before you engage in having sex. I've tried that in the past and it worked. Good Luck and Have Fun!

No way to lessen the flow. Normally we only lose 2/3 to 2 2/3 oz monthly even though it seems like a lot more. If you have intercourse near the end of your period there should be less blood. Remember to use a condom!!

Really no help stopping or lightening the flow. There is however a feminine item called Soft Cup - like a diaphragm for your period. One of the "benefits" it claims is "clean sex during your period."

They can be found in most major drug stores (check Walgreens for example). A box of 12 will last you about 6 days if you use them constantly (as opposed to alternating pads or tampons) as you use one every 12 hours. If you use them only for intimate moments, they'll obviously last longer.

in this short of a time period there really isn't anything you can do.
Talk to you Dr about birth control. With one brand you only have 4 periods a year!

You can't really regulate the "flow" when you have your period. Your body does what it needs to do.

My suggestion is to buy a product in the feminine hygiene isle called "INSTEAD".

It looks like a diaphram, but is used as a feminine hygiene product, not as a form of birth control.

from http://www.mum.org/stalling.htm :
"And INSTEAD's most prominent promise: "INSTEAD is the only feminine protection product that allows you to engage in clean and comfortable sexual intercourse..."

Enjoy your time with your boyfriend!

If your flow isn't heavy try taking a bath then douche. That may stop it for about an hour or two. So do this right before you get cozy. Good luck

I can speak from experience that i have always had really heavy period and my doctor told me to take ibuprophen (not for cramps) but to actually make my period lighter and I have noticed that it does work for me.

Do not eat anything salty, greasy, or too much sugar. I would recommend drinking a lot of water since that helps me. I hope this helps!
