Sorry, losing your mucous plug doesn't necessarily mean labor will start anytime soon. But it means it is more likely to start then having nothing happening at all. I would give you between 1 day and 1 week.

bottom line is that you have to wait until you are a full 10 CM for ANYTHING to start happening (as far as labor goes, pushing etc...). From my experience ( I have a 2 1/2 year old) you are going to be pretty miserable (depending on your pain tolerance) w/ contractions, I highly recommend epidural (however you spell that) and if you miss the "window" for it..good luck, because when you get closer to 10 cm the contractions get ALOT worse...I lost my mucus plug at about 9:15 pm friday night and by 12:00 am (that same night) I was at the hospital. I had my daughter Saturday night at 9:15pm....it was rough...I wish you well...P.S. if there are any complications for you or baby or both a c-section could be possible before 10 cm

P.P.S.S.... I read from an answer that teh mucus plug is the size of a handful....that is very incorrect according to my doctor and what mine was it is about the size of a quarter...I never heard of them being bigger....BUT everyone is different, but i wouldn't expect to get a huge mucus plug...

I lost my mucous plug about two weeks ago and I just started dilating, 1 centimeter. No one really knows when it;ll start because your mucous plug can come out three weeks before labor actually starts. It really just means that now your baby is more open to infection so no unprotected sex and watch what kind of soaps you use if youre planning on taking a bath.

yes it doesn't take that long for your labor to start after that just do some serious walking and it will began in no time trust me. i went through the same thing not even 2 years ago. it took me 2 days after i lost my plug and labor was only 5 hours. maybe sometime this weekend you never know.

You should be going into labour soon, try walking a bit, moving, changing positions hurrys the labour & the baby. Don't be doing too much, you need to preserve some energy for after the baby comes, thats the hard part, but also the most rewarding! Good Luck & Congratulations!

It depends upon how much you lost. If it was a "bloody" show then likely not too long, but up to 2 weeks. I lost parts of my plug from week 36 on...the whole mucous plug is about a handful in size, if you didn't know that part.

That varies person to person. you could go another couple of weeks, or it could come quickly.

Go ride the merry go round.
