I heard about this guy that was part of a notorious street gang but one day he was gutted and left for dead. Today he is out of prison and is married with two kids. He is pursuing to write a Code of Conduct for Street Gangs and actually implement it. Just like organized crime (like the Mafia) don't kill for fun, don't rape women, and don't kill or do business with children. He is basically saying that we will never be completely rid of street gangs therefore all we can do is attempt to "clean them up" and get them to act more decent. What do you think?

He sounds like a media whore, to me. Something similar was tried with street gangs in the sixties. You see how well that worked out.

The hope that springs eternal in the heart! We're always trying to figure out ways to perfect the human race.

Sadly, but realistically, it can't be done from the outside. Only when people change what's inside will we see any kind of progress, whether we're talking street gangs or extremists.

Cleaning up gangs requires a safe community environment where kids won't get beat up for not joining one. We can't do that even though we can liberate other countries and send men to other planets in spaceships. Go figure.

There is a code of conduct within the Italian Mob. The mexican mafia even has one. As far as black gangs they kinda do what they want

HAHAHAHAHHA No dice, I don't see that happening. That is what makes it a "street gang" in the first place. They don't follow the law set by our country, why would they follow any other rules?
