Your baby is not ready to be born yet. It may sound a little weird but babies when they are ready to be born release a hormone that will start you into labor and cause your cervix to soften and dilate. This hormone is similar to the ones found in semen which is why some doctors recommend having sex. I was one cm dilated with my last pregnancy almost the whole time. It normal especially after you have already had one child. You probably hate hearing this because at this point you are probably tired of being pregnant and just want it over with. So I won't even tell you to just relax and enjoy your last few moments of peace. Good Luck with your new little one.

CONGRATS!!! Every pregnancy is different. I was sitting at 3 cm from 36 weeks to 39 weeks...then at 4 cm from 39 to 40...I finally went into labor the day after my due date. This was my second child. You go into labor when your baby sends a signal to your body that he is developmentally ready. Don't induce, unless you go over...but this is my personal opinion. You went naturally with your first, I'd wait at least unti 41 weeks before making induction decisions. Good luck...and remember...

They're always easier to take care of inside than out. LOL

I have a 4 month old and a 18 month old.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but........I had my first child almost 3 weeks early, and my second was a week overdue. I stayed 2 cm dilated for 3 weeks, before I went into labor. you can stay dilated for weeks. don't judge you second pregnancy by the first, and try to have a little patience. Good luck!

I'm sorry I can't answer why but the same thing happened to me with my first. I was 3 cm dilated for 3 weeks and then finally went into labour on time. I thought for sure he would be early.
Good luck!

Wishful thinking. It will come when its ready. Nothing unusual about not dilating very much. I only went to 4 c until 2 hours before I gave birth. Sorry, my girl, when the baby wants to face this world, it will. only the child knows when its coming. Us moms just have to grin and BEAR it, :) So to speak.Good luck with this one. Must be stubburn.

Everyone is different! I walked around dialated to 2 for 4 weeks, and still had to be induced. Baby will come when good and ready. Relax and enjoy the quiet time! Good Luck

Don't worry about it. The child will come out when he/she is ready. Don't induce as the drugs go right to the baby and create a whole issue of health problems. Be patient and enjoy the whole process.

Conception dates are hard to pinpoint. Always anticipate 2 weeks +/- from projected due date.
The little rascals come when they are ready, and they don't look at a calendar!
