ie. There are a lot of country music singers making it - like Shania Twain. What about the rest of those excellent musicians?

"New Country" is now more pop cross-over than actual "country," which is awesome! I'm a country fan, but I'm not so much into the classic country singers like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, etc. But I'm a huge fan of Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, and a lot of the other newcomers on the scene. I've noticed "new country" is getting a fair amount of airtime on some of the pop stations around here, especially Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, and Keith Urban. I hope it opens up people's minds to believing that they, too, can like country music and not have to be a "cowboy." Country cross-overs are paving the way to musical acceptance by all ... eventually, music will lead people to see that, yes, we can all just get along. (But the Tim McGraw/Nelly song "Over And Over Again" was not a good idea to most people. Neither hip-hop nor country fans seemed to care much for it, but I liked it.) That's my two cents .. do i get the ten points? :-)

Definitely, but most program directors at radio stations are idiots. L.A. had one country station left, and it just changed formats about a month ago, and people were furious. Unfortunately, the correct demographic WASN'T furious. Children (both in age and mentality) tend to want to listen to that hip-hop garbage, and adults tend to want to hear the new country music, (or at least well-written adult contemporary music) but those moronic program directors don't get it. They only want to appeal to children. It's a shame that these guys get into such powerful positions, but don't have any business sense. The owners just listen to whatever their director's tell them, and the directors are clueless about how to make a profit.

yes it should. i love country music, but alot of people like country but say they dont, cuz the truth is, they dont know it's countryor new country, everyonce and a while you hear country on other stations but not much, but when you do you think it's normal, i think it should get more air time though, then i can hear it more!!

I am not a great country fan. But what you don't hear you you can't get to like. So give it some more air time!
