Well the comment about Iraq turning into 3 Inter-dependant states seems rational. But think about it, The country is in a region where it cannot survive. There are thugs who operate outside the government and have more military power than Iraq's government. Not to mention, we've been doing this crap for years. When we invade a country and say we're introducing democracy, we're just lining our pockets. We did it in south America, and now look at their wealth... ZERO! If America was truely all about the spreading of Democracy, why don't we leave Iraq, where the Billions of Dollars in Oil are, and go to Africa to stop the genocides? They won't, because there is nothing lucrative over there. And remember, WE armed the Taliban, we wanted to use them, just like how America was using gorrillas to fight on their behalf. Iraq will turn on us, even if it becomes an organized power in the middle east. But by then, we would have built an army base over a pipeland and call it US soil, then we won't have to deal with them anymore. Unless they try to blow the line, then its on!

All of what you say might be the end result.

However, I personally hope that the following will happen: Iraq will form three semi-independent states: a Kurdish state in the north, a Sunni state in the middle and Shiite state in the south. These three states will be governed loosely by a central Iraqi governing body which will implement laws and protect the people of Iraq under the auspices of a constitution democratically approved by the citizens of all three regions.

The three states will share revenues as needed to support a minimum standard of living for all three regions, but will be free to generate as much income as they can in their own state.

E) probably become like Korea or Vietnam and be a good trading partner
Ideally, someone will get in control of the oil and the US should just work with them. Let every one else fight over the rest of Iraq

I vote for (in this order) C, B, A and then probably D.

I do think you are being ridiculously optimistic about the 15 to 20 year part though.
