Don't pay heed to the trick who says you don't have a kilt - a kilt is a modern version of the plaid and tartan is a fashion thing, nothing to do with ancient culture.
Why not stay with the black theme and go for the Prince Charlie jacket with black bow tie, black socks and great big boots?
A pair of Ray-Bans and some skull rings.
Sod tradition - let's rock and roll!

I would suggest a shirt, or t-shirt style top.
I dont know if your a girl or boy, but it is high in female fashion at the moment, kilts and tartan patterns.
So if for a night out add some sparkly accessories and matching boots.

Sand coloured Timberlands with heavy wool socks, if you have the build for it as a guy a tight black T shirt ( like Vin Diesel at the MTV awards ) or a Polo shirt.
As a Female same boots but try a pink T or Polo Shirt for that feminine chick touch.

o0o0o0o...I have one of these and it's my favourite skirt! Mine's quite short and shows a lot of leg....I wear it with a thick black belt and a top that covers everything apart from a hint of cleavage...the cut on the top has to be elegant to rule out any slutiness from the skirt. I dress it up with a pair of gorgeous black heels and diamond jewelery. Also...make sure your hair is sleek and wear smokey eyes to complete the glamouress but simple look.

ooh lovely! either a crisp black shirt with double cuff and a silver tie and silver cuff links or a gunmetal grey shirt with a black tie with silver stripes/spots on it. Lovely black shoes and black knee socks

if its black, then its not a kilt..
it needs to be tartan plaid to be a real kilt.. what you have is a black skirt..
