Last thursday, the diarreah and fever started (101.4), then on saturday she started vomitting. We had 2 ER trips for Zofran/re-hydration with a diagnosis of gastric flu. She stopped vomitting on tuesday and yesterday seemed fine.

This morning when she woke up she has a 102 fever, which has gone down to around 100 after sleep and tylenol, she has a snotty nose, and by the sounds of it a bad chest and throat.

We also just discovered an hour ago that tell - tale 'grey line' under her gum, a tooth is on its way through.

So basically - Shes had 2 illnesses back to back and is miserable... I wish I could make it better ut i don't know how. She can't be comforted. She's asleep now - but spent all morning screaming.

My husband and I are exhausted and worried.

Any advice on how to help her?

I know its heartbreaking to have a sick baby... hard to help them. My 5 month old just got over nose congestion and a fever. The best thing I ever used for nasal and chest congestion is Vicks Baby Rub... this stuff is amazing. It calmed and made it easier for my baby to breath. A warm bath also helps and frequently using Lil Noses Saline Drops and clearing the nose with a bulb syringe. Try the Vicks!! Hope it helps!!

Sounds to me like she is teething and also probably has a cold. Teething symptoms usually include a low grade fever, diarrhea, drooling, red cheeks, and general crankiness. Let her chew on a frozen waffle. It's messy, but it helps a ton. Orajel should also help.
If she has bad cold symptoms, like a bad cough and stuffed up nose and chest, run the shower or bath on very hot and close the bathroom door. Turn the bathroom into a 'steam room' and sit in there with her for at least 15 minutes. (Obviously, you should both not wear a lot of clothes; it will get HOT) But that will help her cough up alot of gunk and clear her out. If more vomiting or a higher fever occurs, call the doctor.

The screaming is probably because she's teething, try giving her some baby oragel and massage it on her gums. Anything else, I would say talk to her doctor to make sure everything is fine. As for the two of you relax, if you tense up she's gonna feel it and that will bother her more.

To help with an other problems try and get the what to expect book (it's a big help for moms)
Good luck.

Have you tried Children Motrin. My son pediatrician gave him motrin(Ibprofen). Check with your pediatrician first. This brings the swelling down and fever. For the vomit I gave him Pedialite like 3 oz. For diarrea try to give him some baby cereal or gerber banana 1st stage. I would put the teether in the freezer and Orajel help alot. U might want to check for ear infections. My son when he was that age he would get a ear infections everytime he would get his teeth coming. He is now 19 month and expecting another one.

definite please get yet another opinion!! you're the perfect individual to assert no matter if some thing else should be performed. If antibiotics did not paintings both the bacterial rigidity develop into resistant and he needs yet another dose or that's viral and it might want to be dealt with therefore. one challenge the physician isn't entitled to assert is that he received't see him again - it quite is carefully unacceptable! At very least he should be monitoring him. i'd replace GP's immediately or a minimum of see if there is a few different person in the education you would possibly want to work out. you would possibly want to favor to attempt some thing except milk for a feed or 2 as even formula milk might want to be confusing on a ill tummy. change with warmth apple juice or in simple terms sweetened water to work out if that is way less complicated for your little chap to maintain down. i wish he pulls through quickly i understand how confusing that's to have a ill toddler. x

introduce her to popsicles! it will do two things, reduce her fever, and numb her mouth. other than that, just hold her, and do what you can to make her feel better. Continue the tylenol and maybe try saline nose drops to reduce the mucus.

You can put a tiny bit of rum in her bottle. This will help ease the pain of teething.

You should also get a humidifier in her room, especially at night. This will help with the congestion.

It sounds like she may have an ear infection from all the nasal congestion. Call the pedi.
