Pick Celeron only if you want to save some money. Of course, it has to be the type of Celeron that your motherboard can take.
Good luck

A Celeron processor is a lesser quality than a Pentium 4 processor. You can use a Celeron processor if you plan only to surf the net or check email, and some basic stuff. But if you want to burn music cd's or movie dvd's. or play games, then I suggest the use of the Pentium 4 processor.

When you don't run CPU intensive programs like video editing or 3D rendering. A Celeron is fine for everyday usage... word processor, spreadsheet, internet access, even most games.
And Interested Dude is right.... Pentium 4 processors are WAY more expensive than Celerons. In most cases, its not worth the additional cost for the average home user.

When you want to save money but get an inferior product.
Think of it like this: When is it appropriate to buy Old Navy instead of Banana Republic? Or When is it appropriate to get the generic peanut butter rather than Skippy?
