When painting?

Long strokes with water colour or generally softer mediums when painting rain, figures, stems of planes and generally landscape. Since most places seldom make brushes from genuine horse hair or better, synthetic long handled round brushes will have to do. Fat and bushy does it for me on oil paintings of landscapes and with certain indigenous paintings from various parts of the world.

Long strokes tend to lend a certain consistency and gives a nice fade out into the horizon. Modus otii, it took time to master but gives returns of time savings, patience, appreciation of form in the stroke, which speaks volumes.

When painting furniture or wooden frames, long even strokes are de rigeur.

Yeah. Painting, panting, pointing, punting, whatever. Those long even strokes are a good part of any repertoire.
