All sewage goes to the sewage works were the solids are taken out and the water cleaned up. The solids may go to incinerators or be spread on the land. Otherwise they go to the land fill.
On fields that have been sprayed with the solids a lot of tomatoes grow as the seed is indigestible, the toms make great chutney!

i know this. I have visited it on all of its travels. But not just bog roll, also condoms, tampons, cotton buds, nappies, dead dogs, half bricks... the bog roll is actually the second most benign of the lot (as it does break up fairly well). The best is the actual turds. All the other stuff is collectively known as "rags".
Into the sewer
Into the wet well (sump) of a sewage pumping station (or several)
If there's a storm, it gets pumped out to sea, and if you're lucky that's through a screen which extracts the rags and dumps them, sopping wet, into a skip which periodically goes to landfill.
If no storm, it gets pumped forward to the local sewage works, where, if lucky, it gets screened out so that only the good stuff (turds) can be treated. It might have been macerated (chewed up) by the pumps (some are designed to that), but all that does is make the screens miss the rags cos they are in smaller bits.
Screenings go to landfill from here as well.
If the screens missed it, or if the storm gear is overwhelmed, the rags go to the ocean and end up stuck in the trees of seaside towns after the next storm.
All of this is true. I can also tell you what happens if a sewage pump gets blocked. Want to know? just ask...

It goes into the sewer with the rest of the stuff. After that it could end up anywhere, like out to sea or at a sewerage farm. Whatever happens it is not a very nice smelling process. Personally I live in the country, and I have to have my septic tank emptied now and then . I believe the sewage ends up on the lettuce fields. Enjoy your salads !
