We bought a fixer upper old house. My husband can do almost anything to a home.Well we have been in this house now 8 years and still it is not completed. I asked him if he need help (other than me I am dam tried) he always say no! I think he is to proud to ask anyone for help. Should I Go ahead and hire someone who can finish the job before I croke, or just keep living in this dam half finish home another 8 years?

Is this what he does for a living?...fixing houses? Well,...apparently most janitors for example- don't keep their own home meticulously clean....maybe it's the same with your hubby...he comes home and doesn't want to be bothered with more of what he does all day already. If you guys can afford it- definitely be proactive and speed up the process by hiring someone who can get the job done in a week....instead of another 8 years....

It seems you may have more problems than an unfinished house. A finished house doesn't make a home. Do you respect and honor your husband? If not, the house will never be finished. Give him appreciation for what he has already done--a reason to want to finish the house. Give him the honor and respect he needs. Men thrive on it. Then your house will be finished.

P.S. Check the bitterness growing inside you. You won't enjoy the "fruit" of it.

Well.....my husband had a house for 14 years (7 of it we were together) and we recently moved out...it only got finished when we put it on the market, and we hired it done. We renovated things and then re-renovated them! We now live in a new home....that is unfinished.

After 8 years it's time to hire someone to finish the work. If you don't, it will never get done.

umm tell him you are gonna hire someone else first cause you dont wanna live in a half finished home for forever, and if that doesnt get him moving, then hire someone to give him a kick in the rear!

I definitely would not hire anyone. You would kill his ego. Maybe you could sign up for one of those Tv programs that are on TLC or you could give him some names of some contractors to just finish one part of the job!!

Move out. Tell him that you are moving out until he gets that house finished. Go stay with someone, rent a hotel, rent an apartment if you have to. If he wants you back home, he will get it done fast! But you have to hold your ground, do back to empty promises! Get er' done

To make your husband jealous, confront him and tell him that you will be hiring a contractor. He will probably do the job. If you can't rely...do it yourself. Want the work done do it yourself...by hiring whose gonna carry pounds of equipment lol!

Discuss the options with him...then hire a contractor.
