Before calling your internet provider try this:
- remove the network card driver from device manager, then reboot xp (make sure you have the installation disc, if xp doesn't recognizes automatically). With the new driver (re)installed retry loading a page.
- (in case the first one didn't work): go to Control Panel, network connections, open the connection you are using, then go to support, then click on Repair. (if the IP is configured manually check also if the configuration available at Details corresponds with that which the internet provided gave you)

Are you still able to get an internet connection or are you using someone else's?

If you're still on your own, it's obviously not the internet connection you're having a problem with, but rather Internet Explorer. Since you've tried all options already and your brother can' t remember what he did...I'd suggest one of two things.

(1) Install a newer version of Explorer.

or

(2) Take your system back in time to when Explorer was still working correctly by doing a system restore. You don't need to restore to factory settings, I don't believe. Your computer automatically sets up checkpoints (dates in time) when you or someone else makes changes to your computer. Just pick a date when you KNOW Explorer was working perfectly and go back to that point. Just remember that whatever you've changed since that point in time you go back to, will be lost. That means addition of software, files, etc.

Good luck.

Here is what you do. Call PeoplePc, then tell them that you want to upgrade to a package with tech support included. It costs an extra $5.00/ month. That will allow you to talk to tech support. Once the problem is fixed, they will let you go back down to your normal rate.

You could try taking it off the machine and re-installing it, as well. When that happened to me the whole computer was being lame and so we reformated the hard drive and it made a big difference.

Adding Memory may help, seemed to help me.

I think calling tech support will help a lot though. You can also email tech support for free.

You should contact the supplier or the internet connection u r with and ask them to look into it! they should be able to tell you if you have been disconnected or not like permanently. have you been paying your bills?? but i would fone your internet user and ask them to check your connection!!

well usually it means you don't have a connection. check the wires and such or wireless settings. but if you can still get here then thats all that matters.
