Your liver can get overloaded by many things...medications, high fat foods, preservatives in food, red meat, alcohol, bad living in general. The Chinese have believed in liver cleanses for thousands of years. There is only so much the liver and gallbladder can process with all this junk and sometimes it gets to the point of where your mom is. The kidneys, liver and gallbladder are basically your body's filtration system. I would suggest she go through natural medicine once she is released and start a whole new, healthy, raw food diet.

If the liver has become inflamed, there may be other symptoms, such as poor appetite, weight loss, and feeling extremely weak, sick, or tired.
The most common cause is alcoholism. Almost all heavy drinkers have fatty liver disease. Other causes are toxins, certain drugs, and inherited metabolic disorders.

If you have been diagnosed with fatty liver disease, you might be feeling afraid and somewhat bewildered and would appreciate more information about all aspects of this condition. What causes it? What are the treatments available? What are the possible diet and lifestyle changes you should make? What advice for a holistic approach to managing – and even reversing it? and i know the website is so good and full information a bout fatty liver at:http://adola.net/go/fattyliver-bible/

Hope this useful!

I'll address the liver since that appears to be your main concern. Some causes of liver inflammation/infection are chronic hepatitis, repeated exposure to toxic substances, sclerosing cholangitis, hemochromatosis, cancer and chronic alcohol abuse.

Liver enzymes can be elevated by obstructive biliary disease, cirrhosis, hepatitis, leukemia, bone and breast cancer, Paget's disease and several other conditions. Do not assume that your mother has any of these.

The fact that she's had a cholecystectomy may or may not be relevant. But the fact that her enzymes were elevated at all suggests a liver disorder of some kind. More diagnostic tests will be necessary to determine the cause of your mother's conditions.

You've mentioned both liver and pacreatic inflammation. Please don't be offended by this question but is your mother a closet alcoholic or heavy/frequent drinker? Alcohol abuse can cause both.

Could be an infection, could be the liver is just overworking. My liver has been like that for 11 years, since I had my gall bladder removed. I had an exceptional gp and surgeon, and both say it happens occasionally

Reduce your current stress. Your stress hormone cortisol can be activated by extremely low-calorie weight loss plans, intense training, lack of rest and day-to-day worries, which leads to a spike in glucose levels in your blood. More worryingly, it can help with blocked arteries and fat increase around your internal organs, putting you susceptible to diabetes and heart disease. The only prescription for this is to… pass the time.

Always start your meal that has a salad. It'll fill you up, making you eat less in the actual meal, and it's way fewer calories than typical deep-fried or cheesy apps.

Eat in front of a person rather than screen. It cuts down on mindless eating and making you more accountable for each chew.
