I am having real problems just now, losing my breath and have a constant runny nose and cough. I thought at first it was due to dust during house renovations but months later the house is spotlessly clean and the problems getting worse. I've got a Ventolin inhalor from the doc but it only helps for a few minutes and even that causes me to cough. I dont know what sets it off cos it happens at home, at work and outside. I'm feeling so miserable because of it and am even afraid to have a laugh now because that sets of a massive coughing fit.
Sorry to prattle on but really fed up with this.

See your doc.

You might need more than the ventolin inhaler. You might need a steroid inhaler or a course of prednisolone. OR you might be much better off with some antihistamines. You doctor would be able to tell much better than we can.

Ok, I can well understand your problem. I also know that there
are chemical upsets going on in your body. However most of
these, after a while become automated into your brain. I am 69
and have suffered with allergies all my life, from asthma, food
intolerance, psoriasis which can drive anyone nuts because
of sores and itchy scabs all over your body. I suppose that this came about because I was a premature baby 6.5 months, born in Scotland
of Scottish Parents and fair of skin. Nothing works as you well say.
But one thing will work. your brain. I now wear a corset, normal in
front and lined with steel down my back, all because of a broken
vertebrae (L5- lombar 5) that is beyond repair. Now how can I
scratch my back with this thing on. It is not possible, so I pretend
the itch is not there. At first it was difficult, but now I have to think
it is there to feel anything. Got rid of that one. Asthma was much
the same, you have a warning sign and if you expect it to come,
it will. So I put that aside also and I now have no attacks since
I willed them away. If, for a moment I enter a flour, coffee or
any other cereal mill of course it will return, so I avoid these
places. You can do the same, perhaps you will need a little help
and, if so, get it. But I assure you that if you panick in expectation
of something coming along, it will get you right away. So I suggest
you visit your clinical doctor (allergy not psychology) and build
your own defensive wall, you will get better as self confidence
builds up in your brain. I wish you the best of luck although luck
really has nothing to do with it, so I should wish you success
and confidence within yourself and, this, YOU CAN DO. Cheers - Iain

You should go see an allergist. They can distinguish between the two by doing tests. People who have asthma do not normally have a runny nose. You may be allergic to something that is still in the air from the renovation, or seasonal allergies could be the cause... But an allergist will be able to help you with both problems and prescribe the correct meds.

This sounds like asthma that is tiggered by an allergy by something as there also appears an allergic rhinitis (ie runny nose). Triggers could be food, pets, stress and lack of sleep, as well as dust. In servere cases steroids can be beneficial. I would speak to the doctor to have an allergy test to trace the cause. Good luck and hope you are feeling better soon. K x

If you were sick before you noticed your shortness of breath and coughing symptoms, you may want to get checked out for bronchitis. That normally stays around for awhile. Allergens can irritate your asthma as well making it seem impossible to breath. Other factors you might want to consider are: Any family history of allergies, asthma, or breathing problems; your state or countries humidity level; and how often you're around smokers or in an enclosed environment where smoking is permitted. My solution to you first would be to get checked out, let the doctor know EVERY symptom you're having. Secondly, continue using you inhaler and buy some allergy medication. Lastly, proper diet and plenty of outdoor cardio should open you up!

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

I'm also an asthmatic and hayfever sufferer so can sympathise! I find that Decongenstant tablets work a treat for me. Also, put a small bowl of water on your bed-side unit which helps purify the air in your bedroom and gives you a better night's sleep, especially now that it's coming up to the time when the central heating is getting switched back on.

Might also be worthwhile going to visit your doctor - you maybe need a few goes on a nebuliser to clear things up.

Hope this helps ...

You may want to see your primary doctor about seeing an Allergist. You may need to start a new regime of treatment i.e. : allergy shots, nasal spray, steroid (such as Qazr) inhaler, etc. There are many options for you out there.

I am the same way. When it's nice out here, my allergies and asthma act up. Right now I have : my albuhterol, my steroid inhaler 2x a day, flonase, something like benadryl (an antihistamine) that I take 2x a day, and allergy shots every so many weeks.

you're having bronchitis. The inhaler helps open up your lungs so which you would be able to cough the flem out. it extremely is maximum suitable to apply the inhaler first undertaking interior the morning then take a warm bathe and the steam will additionally help get the flem out. looks such as you like some cortical steroids for a couple of minutes. Ask your well being care expert if that is something you may take. And drink a great number of fluids.

this sounds exactly like me and I have asthma and allergies!! I suffer badly from hay fever although this seems to have stopped now the summer is ending. I am especially bad with my asthma when i have a cold. Your doctor could maybe give you a steroid inhaler (the brown one) which you take in morning and evening. Just keep going back to doc til you get on top of it. good luck with it.
