how can i change may physical (MAC) address of my computer. i'm using windows xp professional.

As is stated by otheres here - your MAC (Machine Access Code) address is physically hard-coded - it is unique to every device.

However, why do you want to change it? If you are trying to match the code of another computer (perhaps your last one died?) to authenticate to a DSL modem perhaps, if it's possible to get the MAC of the old machine (assuming you still have it, it may be on a sticker on the old card), many home routers include the ability to Spoof that address (mimic the old one), so it will still authenticate properly without having to call your provider.

There is only one way to change your MAC addy and that's to use another network card. Otherwise you cannot, reason being it's just like you having your SSN it's something that is directly linked to YOU. So that being said it's just not possible without using another card...

you can't its part of the NIC card and is put there by the manufacturer

its down to changing your network card im afraid as its hard coded to that.
