An "autocrat" is amember of the aristocracy.
The aristocracy was the group of people who were ate the highest social level just below (but including) nobility. Back in the day of kings and tsars especially referring to places like 19th century Russia.

Autocrat means two things
1. a ruler having unlimited power; a despot.
AND
2. A person with unlimited power or authority: a corporate autocrat.
