I need this for a project rto do for my child school on flags and decribe it.

The union flag was the American flag, but of course we didn't have all 50 states at the time, so it didn't have 50 stars (but it did have the alternating red and white stripes with the blue field). The Confederate Flag is often referred to as the "Union Jack." It has a red background, with a blue X that runs from corners to corners, and inside the blue X there are a bunch of white stars. If you've ever seen the show "The Dukes of Hazzard" it's the flag on top of the Dodge Charger Bo and Luke drive (The General Lee).

Actually, the Confederate flag as described in previous answers (with the X in the middle, etc.) was the Confederate battle flag - the Confederate flag went through SEVERAL mutations - THere are probably more than 10 - check out a good website to find them all. (The one on "Dukes of Hazzard" as stated, is NOT the original Confederate flag).
