I think that by not breaking up with him, you've already taught him a lesson. You've taught him that you don't respect yourself, you are weak, you are desperate and he can use you. Do you really think anything you "do to him" will make a difference? He already thinks you're a joke.

I tried not breaking up with him, but in the end we had too many trust issues as a result. So the best thing is to go out and find someone better, who will not be disrespectful.

I did indeed break up with him even if I didn't want to. It's been 10 weeks and I'm starting to actually like myself again and realize it wasn't MY fault the train ran off the track, it was his. Dump that jerk!
