Polling of Iraqi citizens consistantly shows that an overtwhelming percentage want the United States out of their country now. The Bush administration claims that the justification for our continued presence and the continued loss of American lives is to "bring freedom and democracy to the people of Iraq" rather than to create a Soviet style client state. Why then does either party presume the right to present a plan to be imposed on a supposedly free and independent nation without their input and consent?

Our presence in Iraq is necessary at this time. The country is not yet strong enough to stand on their own. Portions of the country are being turned over to Iraqi control as soon as they have proper staffing to oversee the areas. The Iraqi government acknowledges our presence and is not requesting that we leave at this time. Therefore we are not imposing a plan on the Iraqis, but rather supporting their efforts to self govern. While it is true that we invaded the country and removed Saddam Hussein, it was the right choice, and in the end the Iraqi people will benefit greatly from this course of action. The bickering in Congress is purely political because both sides are aware that we cannot just pull out of Iraq at this time. To do so would leave the country in total disarray, and would benefit no interests except those of insurgent terrorists inhabiting the country. The Iraqi ruling council has great say in the future of their country, and were they to demand that we leave, we would have to leave. You need to stop listening to all the rhetoric, and view this situation with a more critical eye to truly understand what is happening, and the ultimate good that will be accomplished at the end of the day.

Bush and the Republicans can not bring themselves to admit the obvious, that they have lost this war.
The Republicans got us into the Iraq War, and they have executed the war so badly that we can not win it now.
And finally, they are responsible for 2700+ American' deaths in the process and terribly wounded 10,000+ other military troops.
