Why is it that when any1 with a dark skin colour and/or a foreign accent gets called a 'Paki', everyone seems 2 turn a blind eye.. but when a black person gets called a ****** or another offensive word.. all hell breaks loose?? It's really starting 2 annoy me and it seems 2 me that racism is getting worse. I have many friends of ethenic cultures such as greek and turkish, and always hear ignorant people, calling them Pakis. One person i know is so racist, that he wont even visit countrys where there is a foreign language and the skin colour is brown, saying that they are Paki countrys. The amount of times i have had 2 bite my tongue when hearing this kind of racism is disgusting. what is the world coming to?? a 'paki' is a person from pakistan and even then the word is still offensive.. they shud be refferd 2 as a pakistani.. it's insane to have greeks, turks, spanish, and italian and all other foreign countries having there ppl called pakis. is it just me or has ne1 else noticed this?

Every culture has an unflatering nick name. I just love being called a 'whitey'. And then people from Turkey are called Turks, the English are sometimes called Brits, & I do that & mean no harm, as I have very good British friends.
If it is used without hatred, what does it matter?
Work on the hatred, & then you will be doing something!

Yes I have noticed it, but most people do turn a blind eye, it is usually small-minded uneducated, ignorant people scared of others who are different who are racist and name call anyway, they dont have the education or intelligence to recognize that cultural diversity is a valuable thing to have in society, and its sad because they are the ones who lose out aswell, racism makes me sick but then it also annoys the hell out of me when people call other people racist when they're not & use as an excuse. Also racism exists in all races and colour skin so its not good to generalize too much.

Never heard the term "Paki" before I read your monologue. It sounds funny, but I'm sure it's not too amusing to the one being looked down upon.

I developed a certain sense of bigotry in a job I used to have. I had an insurance claims job. Certain groups tend to lie to get more money than they are due from their claim.

At first I became prejudice against all people of color. After a year or two I began to realize that it wasn't the color or race of a person that was the factor for dishonesty, it was nothing more than personal choice.

I observed that people in financially depressed areas often attempt to leverage the deep pocket of insurance companies in an opportunistic and dishonest way. At first it seemed like lack of financial opportunity was a factor in dishonesty. It was a long time before I realized it wasn't a "color" or "harship" thing, but it crossed all lines of color and economic circumstances. Whites of all economic strata frequently lie in an attempt to get a few dollars more.

People from other countries are often as bad or worse than Americans. Immigrants from Russia were especially bad, but very organized and smart in the way they approached their dishonesty. Southeast Asians were also real bad.

I also encountered many people of Asian descent that didn't have a dishonest bone in their body. Very honorable people.

I met some blacks from Africa and was very impressed with their genteel manners, gracious attitude and their honesty.

I've now come full circle. Everyone chooses their morals and ethics regardless of their circumstances.

You can never tell who you can trust, but race and color have nothing to do with personal quality.

These days I try not to think ill of any man, unless I know for sure he is a lawyer.

if you can call the turkish turks, why can't you call the pakistanis pakis?

i think you are hanging out in the wrong place if you are listening to that kind of ignorance you discribe all the time. also consider that if it winds you up, that people may be doing it on purpose... clearly not very nice people. so try and get away from it, because that kind of ignorance doesn't exist every where.

I've noticed - and in the same vein - why is it A-okay to have a Black Miss America or Hispanic Miss America pageant or to have Black Music Awards or Black Movie/TV Awards (and Hispanic, etc.) but if we were to have a WHITE Miss America Pageant or Awards Show, all hell would break loose!!!

Yes. Its so sad that people have to go though that stuff. Racism will never go away. Some people are just very ignorant. i feel for the people who have to hear things like that. I know someone like that too (very close to me) i feel angry at them cause it makes me think they are under educated.
