In front of my apartment bulding, there is a little garden which belongs to my landlord. Overlooking that garden, there is a porch where we all have little potted plants. In one of my pots, I decided to grow a bean plant, so yesterday I put the little bean into the dirt all nice and neat, and watered it. When I came home today, the bean was dug up, and little footprints surrounded it! I classified the footprint as those belonging to a squirrel, how do I keep the little critters from destroying my plants without hurting them in any way? Thanks!

Squirrels! What pests! Try this, plant your seed, water it, etc. then sprinkle generous amounts of cayenne pepper on it. Sniff, sniff, achoo, achoo, burn, burn...get the picture? Just make sure you add more pepper when you water. They probably saw you stashing away your winter supply of food like they do and were just helping themselves to your stash. Beans don't need light to germinate, so you could leave the whole pot covered until it shows signs of growth, at that point it will be too late for the squirrel. BTW they were watching you plant that seed, just make sure you keep your windows covered :)

First, you must be sure its a squirrel. Make a cast of the prints and take them down to the forensic lab in your town. If they are of the alleged squirrel, try putting some of that pepper they sell at home depot to keep dogs from pooping in your yard. Get the good stuff, don't go cheap

ok this extremely works . bypass to a feed shop or any shop that sells backyard adorns and locate an owl one that looks actual and place it on your backyard and make certain you turn it another day and you wont have anymore problems with the squirrels they're going to think of that an owl has invaded their turf and could go away . stable luck and chuffed gardening .

Pepper Spray works pretty well for most rodents and deer. you could sprinkle some red pepper seeds or flakes around the planted area.
