I understand that some of you are doubtful about the science, such as the modeling used to predict climate trends, and I respect your concern for economic development, but surely these matters can be worked out; I don't claim equitably, but within reason. But my question is this: for those doubtful, even dismissive of the science of, and claimed responsibility man, has for global warming, why not agree with the need to have less pollution? Even if you're correct about the cause and effect and the consensus is wrong, don't most agree that heavy pollution is bad, though sterile environments could weaken immune development?
The acceptance of the danger to health pollution presents seems to me a good starting point.

If you're conservative, what is your attitude on this?

Yes, we should all work to reduce pollution. America has done so, and continues to. We should keep researching and working for a cleaner world.

Your grammar is better than many others here!

The deal is the earth is warming up. It could be by natural causes because nature puts off more pollution than man can dish out. aka Volocanos, livestock farts (not joking its true), etc. Whatever the which something needs to be done about pollution I live in one of the most polutted areas in the country. The haze from pollution is bad so its hard to see mountains where I live.

I'm just slightly right of center on most political issues. I have my doubts about 'global warming' because of my educational background in atmospheric sciences. What I don't have doubts about is the need to protect the environment. And I also strongly believe that we need to kick the oil habit AND help developing nations improve their technologies so they don't end up dumping 100x more CO2 into the atmosphere than the US ever will.

Our goal should be sustainable development...if we don't get this right, it will kill us off far quicker than global warming ever could.

It is not that they don't care about the environment, it is that the outcomes of global warming and pollution are extremely hard to quantify and calculate, and proposed measures to counter pollution will have indefinite outcomes.

The only thing that is definite is the price of such measures. Conservatives see a big price tag that would require taxpayer dollars and say that they don't want to pay for it.

As a conservative who believes Global Warming is hoax, there is merit in what you say.

First, look who is advocating the global warming "crisis." Why, it is the groups who want more gov't to stop the evil capitalists from destroying the world. They've latched onto Global Warming because it's fits their world view that capitalism is evil and should be stopped.

Now, as a conservative, by definition, I believe in conserving. It makes no sense to me to destroy our natural resources. We should be protecting them. This includes using our resources wisely. But I don't believe upsetting our entire economic and energy structure over a belief in man-made global warming, without some serious proof.
