Fairly Smart? Of course the government tells us what we can/can't do. We can't put heroin in our bodies can we? We have to immunize our children before school don't we? Actually, once we lucky enough not to be aborted, we aren't allowed to kill ourselves either. What are you talking about?

I believe, like many Liberals, a few basic things.

#1 That the capitalist economy produces the best overall prosperity, however, it neccesitates a poverty class. Because of this, we need to provide a strong social saftey net.

#2 That freedom of Religion should be absolute. That means no discrimination, no favoring one religion over another, no government advocacy of religion, etc. There are a lot of coralaries to this, such as gay rights.

#3 Personal Liberty. As long as I harm no one, no one has a right to tell me what I can or can't do.

#4 The Earth is our one and only home. We need to be responsible with it.

#5 The world is a dangerous place, with lots of bad people in it. It is our duty, as the world's strongest nation, to protect the weak from the wicked. However, we must do this wih the consensus of nations and make sure that our actions are porportional and just.

See is that so bad?

I beleive that I am smart enough to govern my own body and it's contents and that the privacy of my home, my bed and the thoughts in my head is my RIGHT not a privelege.

I believe that I am an important part of We The People and that the government are elected officials that WE The PEOPLE should be allowed to put into office or take out of office and they are there to do OUR biding, not their own.

I believe that every person in this country has the right to be treated as an equal human being and that when an individuals personal freedoms, health, welfare and happiness are jeopardized for the profit of a corporation, it is time that WE Teh People should stand up and stop this abuse.

I believe that America has enough land already and that we should NOT be boarding planes and ships and going off to someone elses backyard to bully them into acting the way the corporate influenced government wants them too.

I believe that it is HIGH TREASON for a corporation to hold politicians and the government hostage to their whims and for them to use our sons and daughters as human shileds to protect their corpoarte interests abroad.

I believe that it is HIGH TREASON for a religious group who makes no effort to hide the fatc that they WANT the end of the world to come SOON so they can have lunch with Jesus, to be anywhere near our military decision makers and that their influence in starting wars and political intrgue should be punished as treasonous. What greater treason could their be then to say to your fellow Americans, "I want the whole freaking world to end in Armagedon now so I can go to heaven" ?
Hey, do I get to vote on whether you end life on Earth or not?

I believe that LOBBYISTS are some of the most vicious and insidious criminals in the land distracting politicians from their daily work, tautning and tempting them into commiting the most heinous of crime against America; wasting our votes by running on a platform we agree with and then following their personal agendas. The fact that lobbyists outnumber politicians 6 to 1
should have taken We The People to DEFCON 5 and we should be outlawing these snake oil salesmen. Where are the "Christian" preachers when the "devil" lobbyists are luring our politicians into sins against their constiuents? Maybe they are too busy using their church money to pay their own lobbyists who are luring their targeted politicins into removing my rights and asserting their Christian agendas.

And though I am a Democrat, I believe that Unions are the only form of legal organized crime in America. They function like the Mafia and threaten, arm twist and hold hostage any company who refuses to pay their "protection money". They force employers to retain terrible and worthless eomployees while crippling the employers ability to reward people who actually deserve raises and more benefits earned through heard work.
I think both the Dem's and the GOP are chicken **** when it comes to telling the truth about unions. This isn't 1879 and we're not talking about 9 year olds working coal mines. Unions in this country are irrelevant. NO ONE with a 10th grade education deserves to make $65,000 and full lifetime benefits for standing on an assembly line with a rivet gun putting a screw onto a wheel. That is a load of crap. Unions are killing America and Unions are the reason companies are packing up and loving their manufacturing to India. Unions are making it impossible for companies to survive in this country and until they are held accountable fort their Mafia like strong arm tactics, we will be on our knees before them. (And I live in Michigan!)

I believe that the Republican party has become a party of the rich and the sycophants who follow the rich waiting for them to drop scraps of meat behind as they go. The followers will scratch and claw and kill any truly needy people who reach for a dropped piece of gristle and tell them to get their own, get a job, earn it yourself! And they never realize that they too are beggars and boot lickers of the Bushes and the other self appointed money "aristocracy".
That's what I believe.

Well, I don't actually believe in abortions, but I will be damed if I will let anyone else control another person's body, like mr bush wants to.
Once it starts, it won't stop...do you want to have your wishes about what you want for your body controlled by the government?
How do you think that starts...or do you not think & just believe what bush & his rich friends tell you?
From your question, I already know the answer...

PRO Constitution. It defines our nation and our rights.
ANTI Patriot Act, which removes our protections from government, and doesn't remove our threat from terrorists.

PRO civil rights and liberties. Our forefathers, and every soldier who ever died in America's wars gave their lives for them...for US.
ANTI any excuse for diminishing them. Patrick Henry said, "Give me liberty, or give me death." No patriotic American would ever dream of giving up any part of his/her liberty.

PRO Presidential accountability.
ANTI increased Presidential powers.

PRO war, for concrete reasons only.
ANTI war for war under false pretense.

PRO human rights. If we can send our soldiers to die for IRAQI freedom, we can SURELY feel obligated to help out our OWN citizens, otherwise we are hypocrates.
ANTI torture under our Patriot Act's very vague redefinition of "terrorist" and national threat, because one wrong utterance could land you or I in that very tortured situation.

PRO America, and it's HISTORICAL values.
ANTI Patriot Act and the tyrrany it invites.

PRO Congress.
ANTI Presidential veto.

PRO democracy.
ANTI lobbyist.

PRO military and law enforcement for, of, and by civilians.
ANTI military's or law enforcement's political loyalty or offiliation.

PRO socialized medicine (something back for the taxes we pay), or at least a better insurance system that's more affordable and comprehensive, for EVERYONE.
ANTI "pay or die" situation like we have now. We owe our OWN citizens better than that, or is "America" a big lie?

PRO equal rights. This is OUR country...ALL of us. Anyone who can't STAND TOGETHER are the one's that need to leave. One group's ignorance, intollerance, prejudice, and false morality, is NO reason to withhold anyone else's civil/equal rights.
ANTI prejudice, biggotry, elitism, religious interference in government (because hateful interpretations of scripture should not in any way be allowed to influence our laws). A selective morality is a false morality.

PRO technology and conservation. We only have one world. There's no reason why we can't make it BETTER instead of worse.
ANTI pollution and destruction of our natural resources for the profit of the few, or any other reason. There's no real need.

On a PERSONAL level, I've become so mistrustful of our government, that I no longer trust it. It no longer serves the needs of the people. Instead we get lip service, distractions, and laws/legislation that benefit only large corporations and the government, itself.

On that note, I vote for dissolving the Presidency, restoring our Constitution, outlawing lobbyists, creating a democratic parliament, and establishing a parliamentary, military, and judicial three branch government, with one head from each branch to form a triumverate.

They stand for whatever skewed polls tell them to for that time/area and if no polls and just like most other politicans make an issue out of something during an election year to make it look like they're worthy of the job. Then after getting in, quietly try to sweep it under the rug until the next elections come up.

The basic way to look at it is that liberals want absolute equality and want individual freedoms upheld at most costs.

I know that Republicans mostly sit for most activities, but it is also true that Republicans love to make negative scrips and repeat them over and over again. It is like they are practicing to by mosquito's in their next life.
