First you don't want to wear in water (while washing your hands, swimming, doing the dishes, ect.). Since white gold is only yellow gold with nickle added it will eventually turn yellowish. If you want to keep the white gold shine and color you can get your jewlery rhodium dipped. Rhodium is a metal that does not tarnish or dull. It will keep you white gold looking new!

Don't wear it too often. All gold is naturally yellow, but when made into jewelry it is mixed with other metals such as nickel. White gold is made by then putting a special finish on the gold to make the color of the nickel show up. All white gold will turn yellow if you wear it too often, if it heats up too much, or is constantly scratched or etc. If you have any other questions or need to get your white gold made white again let me know, my family owns jewelry stores.

Hope this helps, ciao.

I'm not sure you can stop it going yellow but most jewellery shops do a kind of clean-up thing which brings it back to shiny white! I have 2 tainted white gold rings at the moment that need doing! I think when I asked it was going to cost about £6 but I asked a fair while ago. Probably depends where you go

You are recommended to clean the white gold every 6 months. If you bought this from a good jewellers store they should offer this service.

I have never know white gold to turn yellow!

It's difficult to stop, because the natural color of gold is yellow. White gold is yellow gold with something else added to make it that silvery color, like nickel.

But you *can* stop it. When you see it happening, go to a jeweler and have them rhodium-plate your item. That will restore the silver color and shine.

You cant.
White gold is just yellow gold rhodium plated.....you can get white gold items replated for a low cost. My wedding band was only £7 to re- plate.
Next time I will ask for platinum!!!

I think you are meant to get white gold jewellery 're-plated' every year or so to restore the original colour.

I know this is kinda gross but i heard that you should soak the item overnight in urine, don't forget to wash it though!!
