There is a (probably apocryphal) story about a very attractive coed who goes to her instructor's office and says -- seductively -- "Professor, I'll do ANYTHING to get an A in this class."

He looks at her and says "Great, do the work!"

You want an A? Do the work.

There really isn't an easy way to get an A in Literature. You have to read the materials, go to class, listen to lectures and study. Literature has many layers and to excel you have to have knowledge of all of them.

read, study, pay attention to lecture buy a dictionary of literary theory and philosophy ,I think penguin press is the publisher and research the author, his era he grew up in or what the world, was like when the story was written, unless it is world literature if you are doing that then get the dictionary of archetypal symbols and the dictionary of religions cause most literature stems from religion, read your text book, all very easy things, the easiset enjoy what you are learning go to rate my professor .com first or ask others who is the best professor to take ,some of them are a hoot and make lit fun, my professor also claims to take bribes but I have not had to try that and, I got an A in my last class

pay attention to the class, read what your supposed to, and take notes of the lectures, not of everything, just a couple of specific things, then add that to a paper that you have to write. The prof/teach will think you pay attention and work hard.
