Went to my local shop today (having just moved in to the area), picked up a bag of sugar and some milk- there were six checkouts, all waiting for service, two asian cashiers and three white cashiers. I moved to the checkout nearest the exit door to pay for my goods (white cashier), and was apprehended by the manager on the way out and told that if I didn't pick an asian cashier next time I would not be welcome in the shop again due to my obvious racial favouritism (I am white).

Isn't that mad? PC gone wild!

It seems like there should be more to the story to explain why a manager stopped you the customer and said something to you. I
f it really is as you say it happened then you should have explained why you chose the lane you did, and that you didn't appreciate their unfounded and presumptuous accusation of you being racist and that YOU would not only not shop there because of management's ill treatment of you but you will also tell everyone you know about your experience.

This is totally insane. I would have told the Manager, that he need not worry, that i did not shop at any store were they welcome people to be racists. I work for a large retail store and my Manager's and I and my fellow employees look at everyone as customers. When I read things like this I can really understand why there is so much hate and bull----- in the world.

I think it is a little mad. Did you explain that you chose the cashier nearest the door ??

If the Manager has this attitude he may not have his job for very long, as he will have no customers

TOTALLY BIZZAR
You can choose to go to any cashier you want. I would have asked why they bother employing Anglo Saxon checkout people if they are going to accuse anyone who uses them of being racist.

You should tell them that if they want to keep their business then to back off before you call the BBB. That is just harassment and you shouldn't feel obligated to do what the manager feels is PC...

Write to them, as Felidea answered, but also write to the press and the local tv stations.

You were a bit slow there, you should have told him he was discriminating against you by pointing out your colour to you, get the race relations board involved, he just can't get away with it.

There are lot of black and coloured people creating race discrimination that is just not there, the whites will have to fight back against these false accusations.
