Or do you think it's something they should just celebrate with each other?

No I don't usually do anything for them, although I did throw them a big party for their 25th anniversary. I somehow managed to get their entire wedding party to show up so that was pretty cool.

For any other anniversary, I just give them a card and let them celebrate. Every 5 years, I do something. For example, this year, it's 40 years and the whole family is taking them out to eat to a really nice restaurant.

Your parents will always enjoy celebrating their anniversary with the children. Make sure you always buy them a card or present. It actually blesses them when their children do that. The time they spend together will be their call and their time, don't worry about that, what's more important to them is YOU being apart of their anniversary.

When I was younger we did things...now that all the kids are older living in different states we all send cards/gifts. With time some parents dont want a big ol thing made for their anniversary at least mine dont.

I buy my parents a gift. Usually I try to get out of the house, and my get my younger brothers out too. Whatever my parents choose to do in or out of the house, they should do so with no interuptions. It should be relaxed and fun. Their anniversary is their day. I am proud to have parents that have been married 25 years. I recognize this, respect it, and let them have the day to themselves.

I normally got my parents something for their anniversary (they are gone now). Our family drew the line on getting siblings and the spouses something for their anniversary though.

It depends on the year, if it's like the 20th, 25th, or 30th or 40th--I would do something nice for them. Maybe take them out to a nice dinner or get them a nice present. If it's just a regular year, I'll just send a card.

I usually send a card just to let them know I remembered, and I call to say happy anniversary.

But, on the big milestones (like 25th, 40th, 50th, etc) in both my husbands family and mine, the kids have gotten together and done something cool for them. One time we threw a surprise party for them, and another time we pooled our $$ and sent them on a trip to Ireland. I think it's nice to recognize the milestones and the committments they made to each other. (and KEPT!!)

My family lives all over the US. For my parents 50th, we got all the kids, grandkids, etc together in their town for a few days and just had a wonderful time being together. My parents really seemed to love all of us being together in one place, even if it was only for a few days.
