If you want a truly excellent book that is somewhat similar, read "The Moon and the Sun" by Vonda McIntyre. Beautifully written and very well researched!!! Look it up on Amazon.

Jean Auel with her Clan of the Cavebear series. It is really very good. I would very highly recommend this series. Not all of the series had been published yet. She is supposed to be writing the last book right now.
