or a pair of cargo shorts, tshirt and sandles? Guys: a girl in a nice skirt or dress and heels or a girl in jeans and a tshirt and tennis shoes?
I prefer a man in a tie myself, dont' even look twice at a guy in shorts.

The man in the tie would get my attention faster. Too many men have forgotten how to dress nicely, they all want to be comfortable. Seems like casual gets sloppy too many times, so the well dressed man probably has some style, and a little class.

Most of the time, i can go either way... a man dressed up or down but, it's more to do with the man in the clothes and not the actual clothes! If a guy were wearing a nice Armani suit, sleek hair masculine features... but was a total a**hole, the clothes wouldn't make a difference same as dressed down. Now if, a guy was wearing faded blue jeans, a t-shirt and boots and was a good man, great grin, nice muscular body and was also someone I could see myself with I would go for him in a second!!!!

A dress would be nice, hardly anyone wears one these days. I'd be put off by really high heels, though. Tight jeans and a fancy t-shirt are nice if you're thinking of something casual, like a walk or picnic. It depends on what you're doing for the date. Cargo shorts are an awful choice for anything except sailing.

Every occasion has its own appropriate style. They cannot go to a wedding wearing a tee, shorts and flip flops and they cannot go to beach party wearing a suit and tie. They'd both look equal amount of stupid.
But if we specify, I like guys who go to work in more serious outfits, instead of just as the same as their weekend clothes. And if their job requires tie, great cuz I love a man who can comfotably wear a tie.
Also some guys can wear long sleeve shirts and ties but they still look like garbage because they don't have a fashion sense or their shirt is wrinkly and stained. I guess you wouldn't like that then, huh? So being a slob is not limited to what type of outfits you wear. *winks*

I would prefer a guy in a nice shirt and tie, but i would go for the relaxed guy in the cargo shorts, t-shirt and sandals. He would seem like the one you could have more fun with.

If its a social event than a nice dress shirt and tie is a must, but if we going to lets' say the mall than tshirt and sandals is fine (sandals only if he has nice feet)

i think it just depends on the guy. some guys can't pull off a shirt and tie to save their lives, and others look good in nothing, and everything. it just depends. i prefer a guy who's dressed casual, because then you can have fun doing anything. but it's better to be over-dressed than under-dressed.
