At best the IP address will get you back to an ISP only. This is a Phishing scam. Do not answer or click on any attachments or links in this email.

Forward the Email to the FTC here: spam@uce.gov

You can also forward it to this site:

spam@cybertopcops.com

Here is their site:

Looks like someone's hacking and trying to get your password by resetting it. Do not in any way affirm your action. Contact the people who's website is being hacked in this way and let them know you have received such an email. Also, notify your ISP that this is happening.

I'd suggest that you close the account on the site with the password, and ask them to/or you can open a new account.

Do an 'nslookup' with the IP address and it will show you the name associated with that IP which can give you a clue. Then if you want to know more you can do a 'whois' to see who owns the IP address range that address belongs to.

For grins and giggles:

here is the nslookup result for 83.28.26.1 from server localhost, querytype=PTR :

DNS server handling your query: localhost
DNS server's address:127.0.0.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:
1.26.28.83.in-addr.arpaname = beo1.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl.

.pl is Poland I think?

If you don't know who it's coming from, ignore it, it's a phishing attempt. Someone is trying to get your password and thinks you are dumb enough to send it to them. You should never give your password to anyone, there is never any reason for it.

go to http://ripe.net and type the IP on the search bar on the right, it'll tell you where that IP is from.

Name: beo1.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl
Address: 83.28.26.1

Looks like it's coming from a computer in Poland. Either a scammer or someone who got their computer infected by a scammer.
