I have been taking this for about 5 days now. This is my first time taking birth control. And I was wondering, When I am suposed to start a new pack? Do I take all of the pills including all the green ones and then start a new one? I am extremely confused. I called and aske my a nurse at my doctor's office, and all she said was to never stop taking a pill , that I need to take one everyday. But when am I supose to start my period? When I get the last blue one? Please advise me as to how you are suposed to take them.

If you are on the 28-day pack, then take all of the pills, 1 per day, and then start a new pack. Your period should happen when you are on the different colored pills, which I assume are the green ones. The nurse is correct, you should never stop taking a pill. Your period should start during the week that you start taking the green pills. It may not happen on the exact day that you stop taking the blue pills; it may be a day or two earlier or later. Just take one pill every day, starting with the blue pills. When you run out of pills, start a new pack.

The prescription comes with an information leaflet. You need to read that entire thing, because there is a lot of important stuff in there. In answer to your question, you take the entire pack of 28 pills. When you get to the green ones (the brand-name Ortho pills should start with white and end with green), that is the week your period will come. As soon as you are done with the 7 green pills, you start a new pack (even if you are still on your period.) So, day 28 is your last green pill, then the next day you take the first white pill from the new pack.
Your first month taking it, you can't be too sure when your period will come. Once you have been taking it a few months, it will probably come a few days after you start the green pills.

Well hard part is over you already started your pills. Since it is your first month your period may come at a weird week depending on your cycle, but next month and after that it should be normal. The nurse is right, dont stop taking the pill. Take all the active pills (usually various colors of blue) and the last 7 pills are "reminder" placebo pills. When you are taking the reminder pills that is the week at which you should get your period. Hope this helps.
-Good Luck.

You start the pill the Sunday after the start of your period. Since you have started already, you will take the green pills before you move on to your next pack of pills. The start of you period may very likely vary as you just added more hormones to your body. It could take months for your period to regulate, or it could happen right away. Also, make sure you are taking them the same time each day, this helps you remember, plus it keeps your levels stable. Print off a calender and mark your period start and end days each cycle, note when you spot. This will all help you know if your periods are coming regularly or if the pill is messing with your cycle too much. (Like I said it could take months to regulate) I went through three types of pills within 18 months before I found the one tht really worked with my body.

you take ALL of the pills in one pack before you start a new one... the green pills usually go along with the week of your period.. if you don't take them properly.. there's no point in taking them at all ... seriously
