45 degree corner you say? Well if your talking about mitering trim on a door, lets say. You would set your saw at 45 degrees. Thats because your angle is actually 90 degrees on a door corner. If you wanted to cut a true 45 degree angle and have it properly mitered you would go 22.5.

Im just going to assume your doing a 90 degree corner. Make sure you dont actually cut a perfect 45 degree though. make it slightly larger. Like 45 1/2 degree. Just tack on the pieces until you know everything fits nice.Once your pieces look good, go ahead and drive the nails home, countersink, and call it good.

Also you can cheat a little by taking a knife and trimming out the wood that wont be seen on the inside of the miter to make sure the face will be tight.

Assuming you mean a straight wall suddenly turns in 45 degrees from straight (making a 135 degree angle), you would cut your trim at half of 135 degrees or 67.5 degrees.

On the other hand, if your straight wall goes along and sharply cuts back at an enclosed angle of 45 degrees, you must cut the trim at half of 45 degrees which is 22.5 degrees.

And, lastly for those that need it, if your straight wall turns away at a 45 degree angle thus forming a 225 degree angle, you must cut your trim at half of 225 degrees or 112.5 degrees.
