Most of these answers you have received are WRONG! If you are overweight to begin with it may be difficult for the Dr to hear the heartbeat through a regular doppler. Also, the baby could be in a strange position which the heart is not easy to get to......... If they did hear a heartbeat before then there is a good chance that your baby is fine. Go to the ultrasound and see...... schedule it as soon as you can. Worrying could only make things worse. Good luck!

As I read your question, I think part of it is asking if this is normal for a big woman. I take that to mean that you are obese. (Whatever happened to the phrase "pleasantly plump"??) If so, the extra fatty tissue over your torso and the positioning of babe could make it hard to hear a heartbeat.
God bless you, and the babe! I hope all turns out well for you.

My wife miscarried at 30 weeks, she did not have any bleeding or anything either. She went in for ultrasound, the baby had no heartbeat, and then a week later she miscarried. I am really sorry.

No, it isn't normal, no matetr how big. I am heavier and my doc always hears a heart beat since like 6-7 weeks for both of my pregnancies. Good Luck!

I lost my baby at 20 weeks and there was no heartbeat on the Doppler or ultrasound. They should be able to hear it. I'm sorry to hear this, but I hope it is all OK.

If they were only using the doppler (the thing they put on your stomach that does not make a picture) then it might be hard to find the baby's heartbeat if you are big.

a heartbeat can normally be heard around 12 weeks or so, i hope the baby is ok but ultrasounds are usually very accurate at finding a heartbeat-wish you the best

well i miscarried in July of this year they couldn't find my baby heart beat either... with my 1st pregnancy they were able to find the heart beat and I'm a big girl 2... hopefully you haven't miscarried.. when i miscarried in July they did a over the stomach ultra sound and couldn't find the heart beat but when they they did a vaginal ultra sound they couldn't find the heart beat either that is what you may want to request a vaginal one...

did you ask the doctor why he think he would not hear the heart beat, I am sure if the doctor suspected something wrong, she would have said something. Just pray, ask God to bless you with a normal, healthy ,happy baby, remember he promise never to leave or forsake you .Trust him

If you had an ultra sound, then they saw the hear beating. If they didn't see the heart beating, then they would have told you. Best of luck.
