That doesn't really sound like epidural symptoms. Usually the type of headache caused by an epidural is severe and happens very soon after the epidural is inserted. And it's severe while you are in the hospital. So severe you can't hold the baby or get out of bed.

Could just be from the hospital bed, and from having the baby. Could be something serious. These all sound like meningitis symtoms. It's never a bad idea to see your doctor.

From what you are describing it sounds like you are having a spinal headache. I had epidurals with my first two births and the second epidural is where I had problems. I was very tense because my son was going to be around 6 weeks premature and the anesthesiologist poked me over four times to get the epidural in. After the birth I had unexplained headaches that the nursing staff just ignored. It was my own mother who got online and figured out what was causing it.

When they were poking to do the epidural, the multiple pokes cause a spinal fluid leak that gave me severe headaches. I couldn't move I was in so much pain. They recommened that I get a spinal patch which would stop the leak and stop the pain almost immeadiately. Contact your OB/Gyn and see if this is an option. Hope this helped!!! I saw on a Baby Story or Bringing Home Baby on TLC that one girl had the epidural and she continued having a massive headache for 1-2 weeks. She couldn't even enjoy her baby it was so severe. I told my friend about this after she had her baby and she had the epidural, but she said that it's only a small percentage of women who get this. So anyways that being said, I'm going to try my best not to get an epidural. Hope you feel better soon and congrats on the new baby!!

It could be, I would check with the nursing staff or your doctor. I just went to a birthing class and they mentioned a "spinal headache" which occurs when they accidentally puncture the blood vessel in your spine. It's not a major thing, it just causes severe headaches. I would call and ask.

Yepers. Epidurals can and do cause permanent nerve damage. I encourage more women out there to do their research before having one.

I did not have an epidural. But, I did have the same pains. My pains came from pushing.

i believe that it is--my youngest is now 3 and i still get bad headachs...and i feel they are from the epidural because i never had that problem with my first and i did not have and epidural with her.

The only problem that I ever had was a dull pain in my lower back that would flare in cold, damp weather. If your symptoms persist, call your ob/gyn.

I did. My arms were so sore. My back killed me. I had a head ache...but the headache could have been from being tired.
