The American Pediatrics society says that ultra sounds are ok for medical reasons ONLY. The unknown risk is ONLY worth it for medical reasons. Ultrasounds cause brain damage in lab rats. The medical community does NOT know enough about the effects of ultrasound yet, or sound waves for that matter. It is not a good idea to put your baby through this for curiosity's sake. If you do go, definately get your doctors permission first.

We had one at 32 weeks with our first and have another one booked for the 24th Oct and we'll be 28 weeks. I can't wait. They're worth every penny and I'd recommend them to anyone. What I would suggest is looking on ebay instead of going straight to the companies as they often have offers on so you can get the top package for half the price!

I have seen 4d scans, and if I had had the money I would have had them done. You could see every thing, the facial features, the little fingers, it was amazing.

I wouldn't reccomend doing those scans... I read that they are doing studies that show that there may be long term effects on the babies and mothers who get them. I don't know if they've proven anything yet, but it's just not worth it to me. I really wanted to get one while I was pregnant but they were really expensive and I was much happier seeing my babies' face for the first time in person, so I could touch her and feel her. But, ultimately it's up to you and what you want! Good luck and congratulations!

It cost us $30.00 each time. For our first, we actually had a 3D that we could make out his arm, and feet, and head, but it was kind of confusing. For our second child, well; you can't really see anything, except like bone cartlage but nothing discernable, in that case it really isn't worth it in the long run, it's a video of "blobs". (Even though, I know it is him). I guess it is ok, and we will keep it with their baby things, as their very first video. in my opinion, the best videos though, are of when they were first born, and after they took their very first breaths.

Yes, Its definitely worth the money I had one when I was pregnant I am just amassed at the fact that it looks just like my son(I know its supposed to). I do recommend shopping around though since its not covered by insurance you want to get the most for your money.

my sis had one at 7months. it was a wonderful experience for the whole family. they let up to 7 family members come in and watch. gave us a dvd and vhs of the whole thing. it played baby music while you watch it. and it will let you know the sex of the baby. we could tell the baby looked just like my sis. its a wonderful experience for you and your while family if thats what you wish to do. go for it. its worth the money. i think it was $200.00 for about an hour and a half. 50.00 cheaper than the balck and white photo you get from the doc
