I hate to be blunt but it sounds to me like you have an eating disorder. The word 'sneak' gave you away. You can't fix this on your own... it will only get worse.

The first thing that I need to know is your weight? If you are underweight then this will explain the physical addiction.

I feel qualified to talk about this. I have had problems with food since I was about 13. I'm now in my 20s. I ended up in hospital last year weighing 5"6 because my bulimia became absolutely chronic

I UNDERSTAND HOW FOOD ADDICTION WORKS

I was having five or six binges a day and then throwing them up. My life resolved arround eating and throwing up. Infact, I was probably putting something in my mouth from the moment I got up in the morning to the last vomit before I went to bed

I was binging like this because I needed it both physically and emotionally. I was using it to block out emotional stuff but as my body became starved, the physical addiction took hold. My body was calling out for nourishment so I had this overwhelming desire to eat. I was told that as your body became starved your body sends messages to the brain. The brain then focusses on seeking nourishment. As I was eating but getting rid of it, the messages became stronger. I kept it secret because I didn't want to be stopped. I wanted the food so badly that I couldn't imagine life without it in such enormous quantities.

In the end, I was stopped when a blood test showed that I would suffer heart failure at any moment due to electrolyte imbalance.

You may not be being sick ( or you may and may not be admitting it) but if you carry on the way you are, things will get worse. You will either get very fat (which will make you unhappy and unhealthy) or you will resort to drastic measures to counter the effects.

MY ADVICE TO YOU IS TO GET IT SORTED!!!!!! GO TO YOUR DOCTOR AND THEY WILL HELP YOU.

The actual factors of an habit (maximum of them besides, and no matter if it isn't too advanced) are reversable as a lot as a level. Withdrawal might want to be deadly in uncommon situations and particularly from alcohol. even with the indisputable fact that discomforting withdrawal from maximum different addictive elements seems, they're medically no longer as intense opposite to well-known believe (few meth/crack/heroin addicts get heavily ill even as retreating!). yet once this section is carried out, the actual component of habit is particularly a lot conquered! ("elementary") The psychological component to habit is regularly a lifelong condition. Addicts can ought to paintings on it each day of their last days. the a number of elements abused do completely modify mind chemistry, affecting psychological states profoundly. If the restore isn't very good or no help equipment exists, almost some thing - even with the indisputable fact that miniscule - can set the habit off again. ("confusing").

I'm struggling with weightloss myself right now because I've just been put on meds for high bloodpressure and want off of it and want to lose weight before I end up diabetic too. I have changed some of the bad things I eat with good things and I stopped eatting after 7pm,and I started walking 1 mile every night. I am choosing to live.

I have a friend (Lucy S) who is addicted to food, not an hour of the day passes by, when she isnt shovelling sugary, fatty or salty foods into her mouth, and twice, or perhaps more a week she has fried chips from the local shop. She is not overweight (much), but she can't stop eating. KP dont tell her.

Hi "abstract">
A GP would immediatly ask if that you are taking any drugs, and that includes alcohol, as that would explain it all.
I sweat at night in the foreign climes that I work in, and I also sweat in the UK at night if I have been to the pub or a party.
Of course it wakes you up. Often hungry for whatever I have in the fridge etc As I have not had, say, a goodly lunch.
It could be one or two other things, minor of course, yet please nip into your GP for a couple of tests to give you peace of mind,
It is probably not serious, but worth having checked out.

Been there, and been troubled by a similar thing, so all the best ...

Bob

Think about what is causing you to want the food. Are you genuinely hungry at night or are you using food to fill a void in another area of your life...IE - depression, lonliness, the need to measure up, etc. Sit down and write down things in everyday life that may be upsetting you...when you are wanting food at night, are you subconciously thinking of those things in life that are bothering you? If so, then the things that are on your mind are linking to your food addictions. If this problem persists, consider seeing a nutritionist and/or a psychologist. Best wishes!

Try going to a over eaters anonymous group. Food addiction is a lot like alcoholism.

Yes, it is very possible to be psychologically and physically addicted to food. There are support groups such as Over-eaters Anonymous to help one deal with the problem. If this is significantly affecting your life, I would suggest consulting a good psychologist/psychiatrist. I am not saying that you are crazy, but there are proven therapies (such as behavior modification) and drugs that can help people with this problem. If you would like to learn more, e-mail me.

Well, wouldn't you agree that in one sense we're all "physically" addicted to food? I mean, without it we'd die. I would say your issue is purely psychological. You say it's "really interfering with my life in a bad way". Seek therapy. Do you feel actual hunger or is it the desire for food that you feel? To be on the safe side, you may want to see your health care provider to rule out an organic cause.
